BigLaw M&A Attys Charge Double Their Smaller Rivals

Law360 (Link to Full Article) Mergers and acquisitions attorneys looking to bring in higher hourly rates should consider a move to a larger law firm, where senior partners bill out an average of twice as much as senior partners at smaller firms, according to a recent survey.

The BTI Consulting Group Inc.'s Billing Rate Reference 2014 report, produced in partnership with Law360, found that senior M&A partners at the largest firms charged an average of 107 percent more per hour, or roughly $428, than senior M&A partners at the smallest firms. The trend also held true at the partner level, with M&A partners at the largest firms billing out an average of 99 percent more than partners at the smallest firms.
