High-Stakes IP Work Continues Its Steady Climb, GCs Say

Law360 (Link to Full Article) Companies are expected to spend more money on high-stakes intellectual property litigation in 2014, demonstrating the strength of that segment as it withstands the overall decline in litigation spending, according to a new survey of corporate counsel.

Spending on IP litigation — involving patent infringement and licensing, trade secrets, trademark prosecution and procurement and copyright protection — is expected to grow by 2.8 percent, to hit approximately $3 billion in 2014, making it one of the fastest-growing practices in the legal market, according to The BTI Consulting Group Inc.’s Litigation Outlook report for 2014.
